Tom Selleck-2Thomas William Selleck is an American actor. His breakout role was Thomas Magnum (private investigator) in Magnum. (1980-1988), for whom he received five nominations for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead actor in a Drama Series. The award was presented to him in 1985. From 2010 to the year 2010, Selleck was the New York City Police Chief Frank Reagan. Since 2005, he's been playing Jesse Stone, a troubled police chief in small-town New York City. Also, he's played in nine television films inspired by Robert B. Parker novels. Selleck has also played the character of Peter Mitchell, a bachelor architect, in Three Men and a Baby (1987) and Three Men and a Little Lady (90). In addition to his role in Magnum, P.I., Selleck has been seen in more than 50 films and television shows, including the movies Quigley Down Under, Mr. Baseball and Lassiter. He played the regular television character of Monica Geller's love interest Dr. Richard Burke and Lance White on Friends. Additionally, he was A.J. Cooper in Las Vegas. He also played a character in the television western The Sacketts, based on two of Louis L'Amour's books.Selleck is a California Army National Guard veteran as well as a spokesperson for the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as an endorser in ads for National Review magazine, and co-founder of the Character Counts! organization.
